Welcome to Himiko

This Wiki is dedicated for me to be able to better manage my online documents and better share information as i edit and update topics that i am working on.

Things that i work on includes

My main forum Index continues to reside here.

Photo Albums

I have never been much of a photographer, but ever since it is possible to take photos and yet not develop them, i have gotten myself into the Digital Photography age. I have been using a photo gallery software called emAlbums, but i have hacked it a little to be able to support videos as well.

You might need DIVX, Quicktime or the M4S2 MPEG-1 codecs to be able to play the videos. It might take a while to download the videos too.

The Photo Gallery also support the Cooliris 3D viewer. I have modified the original emAlbums scripts to allow this. Putting this together with a small component to generate Media RSS has made this possible. Download the Cooliris viewer to enjoy the photos in full 3D glory. In the process of fixing up the Media RSS feed, i also took the chance to have the same RSS feed subscribe-able by RSS aggregators such that the galleries can be read in-line as well.

Documents (access) and Book Shelf (access)

It is always good to keep some persistent store of documents so that it is possible to find when you need them. I have a storage of documents about things that i have found interesting or good reading material. Click here to access the Documents.

I also have a list of books that i have on my shelves. Click here to access my Book Shelf.

If you have valid access, emails on Himiko can be accessed here.

Research, Mini Projects and Rip-aparts

Occasionally, it is good to under-take some kind of mini-projects to keep me active. However, for a short period of time, I have also used my main forum to hold some of the things i did which is related to my research project.

Here are the links to the SVN repository and some of the things i stored in my main forum when i was doing my research.

  • Mini Programming Projects - A SVN repository is used to store most of the stuff that i have written, but some of them which i am not going to maintain will be attached directly on the main forum.
  • ExtendedShell (esh) - This is a project to help to virtualize all my external connected storage devices based on a single drive tree. One of my most useful projects yet.
  • ClusterBasedVideoTranscoding - This is a set scripts that i wrote to help transcode several media files supported by mplayer into AVI (DIVX), AVI (XVID 2 pass encoding), MP4 (ipod) or from DVDs into AVI. It is written such that it will integrate, or be integrated into SGE to make use of a Cluster.
  • OpenGL - I'm no expert in OpenGL, and i am still trying to pick it up on a part-time basis
  • Performance and Benchmarks - This set of pages basically lists the history of the development of the Multi-Resource Scheduling (MRS) algorithm. It also describes the various workload profiles given by the Parallel Workload Archive.
  • White Papers and Publications - This stores some of the papers that i have read and what i feel about them. However, it is not very extensive as i stopped documenting all my reviews of the papers that i have read. This section also contains some of the work that i have published or the white papers that i have found.
  • CardOCR - This is a little service i wrote up to help people with the problem of sorting, storing and searching a large number of name cards.
  • iPhone Development - CardOCR? is largely based on Webkit for mobile safari. Writing the javascripts for this application really allowed me to gain/re-gain skills that i have lost since i picked up server side programming. Here are some resources and comments that i have for Webapp development on iPhone.
  • Arduino Helicopter - This project tries to create an auto-leveling helicopter that would eventually be completely controlled via a computer.

Here are some of the hardware rip-aparts that i have done. Mainly, this is only done when i am feeling cazy or something broke and i would just prefer to try to fix it on my own.

Links

Here are some links that are interesting

Here are some of the links that i no longer maintain

  • My page at iWeb - This is a website that i created using the iLife suite of applications. It is mainly a test to see how the integration of the iLife applications are done.
  • Copperblue - This is my main external webpage. I hardly use it now, but it functions as my email gateway.
